Fourth Exhibition
Golden Lane Celebration showcases new works by three distinctive designers during the London Design Festival 2006, and celebrate the formation of the estate’s Residents Tree and Garden Group.
Three is the magic number. Three young talents from three different disciplines come together in one exhibition, unified by their common inspiration found in the Golden Lane Estate.
Stefi Orazi
With intuitive and spontaneous response to the architectural character of the Golden Lane Estate, graphic designer Stefi Orazi has been commissioned by EXHIBIT to design the first Golden Lane Greeting Cards set. Each card illustrates the dynamic vista across the estate, drawing upon the rhythms and grids of the windows, balconies and primary colors found in the estate.
Robert Phillips
Graduated from the acclaimed Design Product Department at the Royal College of Art, Robert Phillips’ enthusiasm for user design participation has ascertained his status as a unique and unconventional figure in the industry. In Golden Lane Celebration, Phillips worked closely with a group of older residents to explore the potential of developing products not only for older people but inspired by the elderly within the local community. The Golden Lane furniture will be exhibited as scaled prototypes to initiate discussion as part of an ongoing project.
Wessie Ling
Ling, Senior Lecturer at the London College of Fashion, has created an installation and dialogue between her fashion art work and the estate’s unique architectural language. Golden Link is a series of specifically designed pieces demonstrating Ling’s passion on traditional Chinese dress and her stylized observation and interpretation of contemporary architecture, expressed through a playful stage and game set up in the basement gallery.
