Light Unlimited, Megaman
The Light Unlimited Project was commissioned by the renowned energy efficient light bulb manufacturer Megaman. The project aims to design an event and develop strategy to enhance brand communication to their clients during Milan Design Week 2011.
Our proposal identified the true essence of the Megaman brand and linked this to their charitable foundation which supports environmental and educational research.
During our process it become clear that the event in Milan is not merely a product launch amongst thousands of other attractions, but an idea-driven festival to celebrate design credentials and demonstrate the brand’s social responsibility and achievements. A rebranding idea slowly emerged as Megaman recognised that participation in Milan was a valuable opportunity to reposition themselves in European market and the professional domain.
With these criteria in mind we investigated the design proposition from a different perspective and began unfolding new possibilities. This new perspective allowed us to seek a balance between demonstration and installation, promotion and exhibition, product exposure and brand value reinforcement.
The project proposed a mobile light performance in collaboration with Heatherwick Studio and Megaman. The performance is designed to travel world wide for different significant design events. The curatorial marries both companies’ dedication to innovation and creative exploration of energy saving lighting solution in the built environment.
